About
Kristian Ng is a flutist based in Texas. He is currently pursuing a double major in Flute Performance and Cybersecurity at the University of North Texas, where he studies with Professor Terri Sundberg. At UNT, Kristian performs with the Wind Orchestra and was recently a semifinalist in the William Gammon Henry Concerto Competition. As a soloist, he took first prize at the Miclot International Music Competition, earning performances at Boston's Shalin Liu Performance Center and New York's Lincoln Center. His recent awards also include winning the 2025 Claire Johnson Flute Soloist Competition and the 2024 Denton Bach Young Musician Competition, which led to an invitation to perform as a guest flutist with the Denton Bach Society choir.
As an orchestral and chamber musician, Kristian was the principal flutist of the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra, an appointment that included an international concert tour to Japan. He has also spent his summers studying at the Eastern Music Festival with Mark Teplitsky, Liz Klein Teplitsky, and Ann Choomack. Prior to his collegiate studies, he was a TMEA All-State musician and studied privately with Myron Chan and Joo Chung. He has played in masterclasses for Aralee Dorough, Mehrdad Gholami, Brian Luce, and Kim Scott.
Outside of music, Kristian is deeply interested in computer science, software development, and cybersecurity. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and volleyball and exploring new foods with friends.
